Zack Snyder to focus on Superman’s Early Years

Collider has no idea of what to expect from Zack Snyder’s Superman: The Man of Steel. That’s what the popular entertainment site said when reporting today that the 300 director will be focusing on Supes’s early years. While Collider is a fine site known for staying on top of the latest and greatest in the world of entertainment, it has obviously not examined the Snyder catalog too well. Don’t know what to expect from Superman? We’ll tell you what to expect.

The greatest thing for Superman animation since Max Fleischer’s cartoons, that’s what!

With Watchmen, Sucker Punch, and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole under his belt, Snyder will most likely not be directing a live-action feature in the literal sense of the word. We’ll be lucky to get a flesh-and-blood actor donning the Man of Steel’s blue tights and red cape. And we also know that younger audiences will eat it up with a spoon. Guys that aren’t keen on all the CGI? Not so much.

Thus far, Snyder has confirmed that it will have no direct link to a previously published story arc from DC Comics. He also said that it will focus on the Man of Steel’s early years, though we don’t know if that means the cornfields of Smallville or the early days at the Daily Planet. It will assume that “audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy, and Perry.” It will be set in a modern context and will release between the summer of 2012 and the summer of 2013. And General Zod may be the villain. Keep watching for more updates, Superfans.
