Abigail Spencer, Katee Sackhoff, more cast in The Haunting in Georgia

Studio logic–take things that don’t really have a lot in common and turn them into a “franchise” with different characters and settings. That’s the thinking anyway behind the follow-up to The Haunting in Connecticut. This time it’s called The Haunting in Georgia and it will feature Abigail Spencer, Katee Sackhoff, Chad Michael Murray, and the legendary Cicely Tyson (The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman). Tom Elkins will direct, and shooting will begin this month in Baton Rouge, according to THR.

The plot will center on the Wyrick family, who’ve moved into a new home. Murray is the no-nonsense patriarch, who must contend with his wife (Spencer) and her horrifying visions that are starting to play out among all the female members of the family. Sure, the first one scared up big box office its first week, but should that automatically qualify it for a “sequel,” especially one that isn’t really a sequel? Sound off!
