Guillermo Del Toro Hulking at ABC
Guillermo Del Toro joins one half of a dream pairing for many sci-fi geeks in the rebirth of Hulk for television. ABC and Marvel will probably be launching the reboot following the release of The Avengers film in 2012, Deadline speculates. The other half of the pairing will be David Eick of Battlestar Galactica fame. Both men are serving as executive producers along with Gary Ungar (Exile) and Jeph Loeb and Joe Quesada (Marvel).
Del Toro is the frontrunner to direct the pilot depending on his availability, and Eick will pen the script. FX work will be a mix of CGI and prosthetics as opposed to the all-CGI creations of the last two feature films. The story will be a retelling, so expect to start with another visit to Bruce Banner/Hulk’s origins. But if history is any guide, you can expect something out of the ordinary with Del Toro involved.
