Julia Louis-Dreyfus to Veep

Fans of Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine fans have something new to cheer about. Comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus won’t have to wait long to return to regular work now that CBS has canceled Old Christine. She has just been cast in the starring role for a new HBO pilot called Veep.

HBO told EW.com that Veep, written by Simon Blackwell and Armando Iannucci is “a comedy set very near the White House. Former Senator Selina Meyer [Louis-Dreyfus] finds being Vice President of the United States is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned about.” Louis-Dreyfus will also “moonlight” as a producer for the show.

The New Adventures of Old Christine was nominated for numerous accolades including the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in ’07, ’08, and ’09, and an ’07 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Funny Female Star.
