No Scarlett Johansson – Carey Mulligan in The Great Gatsby?
More movement on The Great Gatsby occurred today, according to NY Mag, as it appears Carey Mulligan is moving into position for the role of Daisy. Mulligan was one of many vying for the part, with Scarlett Johansson taking an early lead until she took the part in We Bought a Zoo alongside Matt Damon. Now if reports are accurate, it looks like shooting Gatsby would be highly improbable for ScarJo.
That’s not to say Mulligan is a second choice. Director Baz Luhrmann hadn’t made his final choice, and was very interested in Mulligan from the beginning. Who wouldn’t be after that performance in An Education? As for Gatsby himself, that role belongs to Leonardo DiCaprio, and he is reportedly a part of the decision-making process that currently favors Mulligan. Other rumors for the part included Blake Lively and Keira Knightley.
