Zac Efron – Tetsuo in Akira Movie?
Zac Efron may be getting ready to put his big girl panties on as rumors are circulating about a possible starring turn in the Albert Hughes live-action adaptation of the legendary manga Akira. God forbid this thing turns out PG-13. If so, count us out, but should Hughes play it close to the source material, this violent little fiasco will be a welcome change of pace for the High School Musical-17 Again star. And while Slashfilm has told us not to let the cart in front of the horse, it’s a perfect piece of casting.
For one, Efron sort of looks the part of Tetsuo. Secondly, and in Hollywood terms, more importantly, he would be able to get the female audience to attend showings with their boyfriends. Methinks no matter how much gore this one has, the ladies will be in attendance for a sure-to-be-barechested Efron. What do you guys think about this bit of casting news?
