George Clooney Lands Gravity
The official word from Warner Brothers is that Robert Downey Jr. is out and George Clooney is in. They’re talking about the new Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures 3D film, Gravity.
Deadline has recently received word that Clooney will be working with Sandra Bullock on the Alfonso Cuaron film because Downey had to leave the project because of scheduling issues.
The film has to walk a virtual tightrope with the calendar to hopefully avoid any more scheduling problems and everyone is hoping to start production in late April or early May to allow Bullock time to finish work with Tom Hanks on Warner Brothers Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Meanwhile, Clooney is scheduling the filming of Gravity around the double duty of directing and acting in the political drama, The Ides of March, for Sony Pictures Entertainment and Cross Creek Pictures.
In Gravity, Clooney will play the team leader of a space station that gets destroyed by the debris field of an exploded asteroid. He and Bullock, away on a shuttle, are the only survivors of the catastrophe and must find a way to return to Earth. Bullock’s character, a mom determined to get back to her children, dominates most of the action adventure film.
