Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 Casting – Young Snape!

We’ve got some great Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows news for you. First, did you know some scenes were being re-filmed? Second, we know some casting details you won’t want to miss.

Still, I should warn you. This first part has a mild spoiler. SPOILER ALERT!

Even though Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows officially finished shooting over the summer, the stars of the film returned to the set recently to reshoot the second film’s epilogue scene. Fans had some complaints about the make-up used on the stars, which made them look closer to 50 years old instead of 35 (which is how old Harry and his friends were supposed to be in the novel’s epilogue).

I call it a spoiler alert because you never know who will die in the magical series. Then again, MTV.com didn’t specify which of the young actors were made to look older in the film’s epilogue!

Now, on to casting! Boardwalk Empire‘s Kelly McDonald has a part in Deathly Hallows, part two, and in contrast to actors playing older versions of themselves, a child actor has just been awarded the task of portraying an older character we know and love.

“14-year-old Benedict Clarke has come on board as young Severus Snape,” according to MTV. That means, yes, the very tragic Severus Snape flashback sequence will make it onto the big screen. I’m glad, because he’s one of my favorites. Clarke has already got his own Twitter page. It is, of course, the profoundly talented Alan Rickman who plays the adult Professor Snape.

Also, child actor Bertie Gilbert, age “13, is playing Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius in the epilogue.”
