Judi Dench in Eastwood’s J. Edgar – Charlize Theron next?
Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar film is slowly chugging along and the cast continues to grow, with a couple of sure things and one ‘maybe’.
Definitely along for the ride are Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role of J. Edgar Hoover, Damon Harriman as the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby, Bruno Hauptmann, and Armie Hammer as Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s ‘assistant’ AKA lover.
According to indieWire, Eastwood himself confirmed the addition of Judi Dench and the possibility of Charlize Theron being added to the cast while talking with SandwichJohnFilms, saying, “We think she [Theron] will be in the film. And Judi Dench is definitely in the film and there we are.”
At the moment, there’s no word on what role Dench might be playing, but Theron would be Justice Department file clerk, Helen Grady, who wound up as Hoover’s personal secretary. Theron is also considering a part as the evil queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, which is scheduled to start filming at the same time, so Theron will have to decide which film she prefers as the February start date draws closer.
Which would you prefer to see Theron in? A Hoover biopic or a fairy tale remake?
