Kirsten Dunst Joins Chloe Moretz in HICK?

Kirsten Dunst is on board with Chloe Moretz in Hick, a film that is being touted as Moretz’s Oscar vehicle. It does have a few things going for it. For one, it will be directed by Derick Martini (Lymelife), a protege of Martin Scorsese. Two, it will feature Moretz, who has already proven herself in (500) Days of Summer, Kick-Ass, and Let Me In. Three, it is the kind of Oscar bait coming of age stuff that voters go for.

Based on the novel by Andrea Portes, and also scripted by her, it tells the story of a 13-year old Nebraska runaway, who sets out on her own private adventure encountering a drug-addled grifter and a violent thug on her journey to womanhood. Moretz, obviously, plays the 13-year old. Dunst will be Glenda, the druggie friend, and a yet-to-be-determined star will take on the James Dean-esque role of Eddie, once reserved for Colin Farrell, who abandoned it for Total Recall. Shooting is planned for February 2011.
