Ron Perlman Out of The Hobbit

Rumors have been flying around for some time that Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy, Season of the Witch) would be appearing in “The Hobbit,” but those rumors were laid to rest by Perlman himself during an exclusive interview with ComingSoon.net, “I’m not doing [it]. I think maybe that’s a scoop for you.”

The gossip seemingly had some weight to it when Guillermo del Toro was set to direct the highly anticipated films since the two of them worked together on both “Hellboy” and “Hellboy II,” and Perlman has said in the past that appearing in the films would be nice if that was what del Toro wanted, but production delays forced del Toro to leave the project, making way for Peter Jackson to take the helm of the two-part cinematic version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s book.

While he won’t be wandering the lands of Middle Earth, Perlman’s schedule will keep him from getting bored in the near future. In addition to providing the voice of a character of Stabbington Brother in the animated “Tangled” and appearing alongside Nicolas Cage in “Season of the Witch,” he plans to join del Toro in “At the Mountains of Madness,” based on a novella written by H.P. Lovecraft.
