Amanda Seyfried in Red Riding Hood Poster

Take a little bit of Romeo and Juliet, mix it with a fairy tale, and add in a taste of Twilight, and you get the new modern vision of Red Riding Hood. The imagery with the red cloak and the white snow makes a perfect combination that’s definitely gets attention.

Amanda Seyfried (Big Love) is Valerie, a beautiful woman torn by heart and duty. She’s in love with brooding Peter (Shiloh Fernandez) but expected to marry wealthy Henry in a marriage arranged by her parents. The two love-birds plans to run away together but everything changes when a werewolf kills her sister.

The werewolf isn’t a secret. The village has known about it for years, offering monthly sacrifices to keep the beast at bay. Now, the beast wants more. Werewolf hunter Father Soloman (Gary Oldman) is called in to kill the monster, but things become tense when he points out that anyone in the village could secretly be the wolf.

Of course, you know that Valerie is going to have some sort of connection to the beast. Will the werewolf be a family member, the boy she loves, or the one she’s meant to marry?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the people behind the film offer up some originality and make the wolf’s identity an actual surprise because the trailer looks pretty good so I’m sure I’ll be checking it out.
