Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars?

Star Wars fans that have been dying to find out more about Darth Maul from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace might have thought Savage Opress was going to be as close as they could get to the red-and-black tattooed Sith who was struck down by a young Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the gang at Entertainment Weekly is wondering if a tantalizing tease might be a hint of the rematch that every Star Wars fan would love to see.

The Witches of the Mist story arc showed us some interesting things and, for the first time, we get to see what it’s like to be a Sith apprentice. We see Asaji Ventress train Savage in the ways of the Sith, with her main plan being simply to use him as a pawn against Dooku. The various levels of betrayal that exist within the ranks of the Sith show exactly how different from the Jedi they really are, but the highlight of the show for many was for Savage to hear that his brother, Darth Maul, survived the battle against Kenobi.

Mother Talzin doesn’t seem like the type to make a mistake, although I wouldn’t put it past her to lie if it serves her purpose. Will Savage Opress find his brother, and if he does, what kind of shape with Maul be in? The red-faced Sith isn’t the only Phantom Menace character returning from the dead as the Jedi Master who fell to Maul’s double-bladed lightsaber will be also be appearing in The Clone Wars.

Kenobi was a Padawan when he faced Darth Maul the first time and stepped away as the victor. With Obi-Wan being a more skilled Jedi now, the battle could be intense.

What are your thoughts? Should Darth Maul remain dead or should the rumors be true? Anxious to see Darth Maul standing alongside Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars?

Watched this last night – the reveal of Maul at the end certainly surprised me, and my immediate reaction as a massive starwars fan was one of excitement. Maul and his lightsaber battle in Phantom Menace save that from being a pretty weak movie, and he is certainly the coolest sith lord after Vader. I do worry about how he is portrayed but if it’s explained well, how he survived and what he is hiding/waiting for then i would be thrilled to see him. The star wars Tales comic that showed a mech-legged Maul finally hunt down a nomad Obi Wan on Tatooine years later was pretty well done, so I have hope for how this plays out.

What was even cooler was the Qui Gon ghost reveal – for the main reason that it’s one of the things i found sorely missing from Revenge of the Sith – why does yoda commune with Qui Gon yet he is never seen or heard. Very glad to see him, and I hope it is the first of a few appearances.

It was a pretty awesome reveal that Maul is still alive somewhere. Hell they brought Boba and the Emperor back in the extended Universe why not Maul? But I do question using Qui Gon unless it’s just him and Yoda speaking. Otherwise when Yoda reveals he’s speaking to Qui Gon at the end of RotS why wouldn’t Obi Wan just shrug and be like, “oh yeah me and him have been speaking for awhile now”.

Id just like to point out as a HUGE Darth Maul fan that he had actually pushed kenobi down the shaft and then he began to toy with him instead of finishing him off allowing Obiwan time to summon the force for that strike…Id liek to see them bring him back and for him to go after Dooku really..But apparently in literature Maul infact comes back with a cybernetically connected lower body to fight obiwan on tatooine while he was looking over a young luke skywalker. He died needless to say at that point Obi-wan had become extremely strong in the force.

Maul is my number 1 character in SW so i hope he will appear in season 4 along with Savage. When i saw WotM, i started to think how Maul could be alive.

Talzin brobaply brought Maul’s body from Naboo to Dathomir, used the Nightsister magic and resurrected Maul, who then went to hide. He would have told to Talzin where he went to.

At the end of one of the episodes in the clone wars series the Night Sister told Savage that Darth Mual was alive but he was in hiding.

In my world it will be another one of those revenge episodes when it comes on, Obi-Wan will open up old wounds and then he will let the whole revenge thing get to his head!

I think that you are mistaken on the fact of Darth Maul surviving his battle w/ Obi-Wan. But I do believe that Savage Opress will gain training from the spirit of Darth Maul. But I could be mistaken.
