G’hu and Rot Lop Fan – More Green Lantern Corps Revealed

IMDb has the synopsis of the upcoming Green Lantern film described this way:

A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.

If you are not already a fan of the DC Comics hero, you might want to understand a thing or two about the powers the Green Lantern Corps can wield. I found this beautiful explanation over at the DC Comics Lantern site:

Emotion: Willpower

Homeworld: Oa (See Planet Oa Now!)

History: Billions of years ago, the self-appointed Guardians of the Universe recruited thousands of sentient beings from across the cosmos to join their intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps. Possessing the ability to overcome great fear, the Green Lanterns patrol their respective space sectors with courage, honor and dedication.

Powers: Wielding the emerald light from the emotional spectrum, the Green Lanterns are capable of creating constructs in the shape of whatever they imagine. The power rings also provide flight, force fields, communication and access to the nearly infinite knowledge held within the Book of Oa.

Weaknesses: New recruits often have difficulty using their rings against yellow, or fear, and even veterans can be vulnerable to the golden light if they give in to terror. Like all Lanterns, Green Lanterns must recharge their rings from their power batteries before the coalesced willpower contained in them is depleted, roughly the equivalent of twenty-four Earth hours.

There are plenty of aliens on the Lantern Corps roster. We revealed Tomar Re just last week. Today we can preview G-hu and Rot Lop Fan.

G-hu is tall and has the look of Predator. Check him out at DailyBlam.com. DC describes him as “a prison guard on Takron-Galtos” who was once “captured by the inmates and used as a hostage to negotiate their release. By the time the guards were able to free him, they found he’d already taken down the inmates who were holding him and was just waiting for them to open the door. G’Hu is a confident, able officer.”

Rot Lop Fan looks a tiny bit like E.T. See him over at DailyBlam.com now. DC describes him as “a blind inhabitant of a place without color or light called the Obsidian Deeps.”
