No J. Jonah Jameson for Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s Spidey?
Recent news uncovered by IGN may have Spidey fans feeling a little lost. Apparently, a practically iconic character will be missing when Andrew Garfield hits the big screen in his cool new Spider-Man costume. A ‘reliable source’ has reported that the man with the gravelly voice and newspaper ink flowing through his veins, J. Jonah Jameson, will not be making an appearance in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot.
Guess that smacks down the rumor about Zooey Deschanel appearing as Betty Brant. Kind of hard to have Jamison’s personal assistant without actually having Jamison.
I’m wondering how this is going to work. Peter Parker gets a job at the Daily Bugle real close to the time he becomes Spider-Man so we’re basically looking at a complete do-over of the Spidey mythos if that part gets changed up.
Of course, the pic below indicates that the Daily Bugle is around so maybe Webb is playing a delicate balancing act between the origin we know and the one he’s creating. There’s also the chance that the ‘reliable source’ is full of hot air.

What do you think about the news? Will Spidey still be Spidey without the ill-tempered Jameson screaming ‘Parker’ or ranting about the ‘wall-crawling menace?’
