Smallville – Tom Welling as Superman Teaser

Up in the sky. Its a bird. Its a plane. Nope. Its Superman. And how did you know for sure it was Superman? By the red and blue of his costume, of course!

When Smallville began on the CW there wasn’t a whole lot of flying going on. In fact, Clark Kent, then a High Schooler portrayed by actor Tom Welling, admitted to having a little fear of heights. That never stopped him from running extremely fast. (Yes, he’s always stealing the thunder from The Flash and Bart Allen, a.k.a. impulse.) In fact, in recent episodes of the comic book series, Clark has forged an alter ego the public refer to as The Blur. The Blur, however, whether he wears a cape or not, has always worn black.

Be still your hearts do-gooders, because, as MTV reports, new teaser images from the CW hint at the iconic costume we all recognize about to hit the final season of Smallville. “The new image is titled ‘Destiny Is Now,’ and features Clark Kent in street clothes with the Superman symbol shining behind him and a semi-obscured reflection of the familiar costume at his feet.” How will Tom Welling look in the tights? I can’t say, but he looks fantastic in this image. The series returns January 28 at 8 PM Eastern on The CW.

Speaking of costume, season ten has been a veritable cornucopia thus far. Let’s reminisce! We saw claws. We barely survived meeting Isis. Supergirl also made a powerful return.
