T.V. Carpio Replaces Natalie Mendoza in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark
The Broadway version of Spidey has a new villain to face, or at least an old villain with a new face.
Natalie Mendoza, who played the role of Arachne in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, had to step down from the role after getting a concussion from being hit on the head with a rope that was holding some production equipment. She was hoping to return to the stage in time for the February 7th opening but Deadline is reporting that Mendoza will not be returning.
Instead, T.V. Carpio will be stepping into the role of Arachne permanently. She was filling in for Mendoza while waiting to see how that would play out, but is now officially cast as the character. She was originally playing the part of Miss Arrow in the musical. That role will now go to Alice Lee.
Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark doesn’t officially open until February 7th but has been raking in the bucks with preview performances, posting the third highest holiday weekend gross on Broadway with $1.88 million for eight performances, even though critics and bad luck are bashing the musical production.
Maybe I’m just not cultured enough, but I think I’ll wait for Marc Webb’s re-boot to see the webslinger in action.
