Viggo Mortensen The Huntsman in Show White?
Wow! The dust has barely settled from the news that Javier Bardem landed The Dark Tower role that Mortensen was also being considered for when Variety brings word that Viggo still has a full schedule.
It looks like the man who will forever be Aragorn to me is headed to Universal to play the huntsman in Snow White and the Huntsman, which is being produced by Joe Roth and directed by Rupert Sanders. Evan Daugherty wrote the script for this retelling of the classic Grimm fairy tale.
In the original story, the huntsman is supposed to kill Snow White but he lets her go instead. In this story, the huntsman does more than just let her go. He becomes her protector and her mentor, assisting Snow White in escaping the clutches of the Evil Queen, who will be played by the always sexy Charlize Theron.
While the role of the huntsman is almost a done deal, testing for the role of Snow White still continues as the studio is reportedly looking for a fresh face, although there are rumors that Twilight’s Kristen Stewart is being considered for the role.
Filming is expected to start this summer so the movie will be ready for a December 21, 2012 release.
