Who Will Play Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?

Blending fact and fiction has always been a mainstay for books and movies, but none does it better than Seth Grahame-Smith with the first vampire-slaying president in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. In addition to penning the novel, Grahame-Smith also prepared a screenplay, and now Twentieth Century Fox will be bringing it to the big screen. His Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is also making the trip from page to screen.

While the whole movie sounds like something everyone would want to be a part of, the big coveted role is for the part of Abe Lincoln. According to Deadline, screen-testing for the role this week and next are Josh Lucas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Benjamin Walker, Adrien Brody and James D’Arcy.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter tells the story of a man who lost his mother to a vampire attack. He becomes an axe-throwing, butt-kicking vampire slayer, who also happens to become the 16th president of the United States. Bet you didn’t know that the real reason for the Civil War was a vampire plague, did you?

The film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Timur, Jim Lemley and Tim Burton. Of course, you’ll be able to see all the presidential action in 3D since that seems to be the current trend.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is expected to be in theaters on June 22, 2012.
