Charlize Theron Joins Ridley Scott’s Prometheus

Charlize Theron is climbing on-board Prometheus along with Noomi Rapace and X-Men: First ClassMichael Fassbender, according to Variety.

The Ridley Scott project is slowly coming together as the movie was said to have five main characters, but it was also previously considered to be a prequel to Alien, and that information has become so muddled it’s hard to tell exactly what Prometheus will be. Scott has said fans will “recognize strands of Alien’s DNA” while Fox is now denying any tie-in with the original Alien story at all. To further illustrate this change in direction, Scott and Damon Lindelof are rewriting the original script that was provided by Jon Spaihts.

While the actual plot of Prometheus is still unknown, I’m glad to see it moving away from the Alien mythos. There have been plenty of films in the series to cover every angle of that storyline so something a little different will be a nice change.

Theron, who will also be showing up as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, can be seen in Prometheus when it hits theaters on June 8, 2012.
