Christina Hendricks Talks All-Star Lois

Christina Hendricks has been keeping busy during the Mad Men hiatus. Today marks the DVD release of the animated film All-Star Superman, in which she voices the iconic Lois Lane opposite James Denton’s Clark Kent/Superman. Anthony LaPaglia will be voicing Lex Luthor. The film is based on the comic series by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.

In an interview with TVLine, Hendricks shares that this was her first voiceover project. She says reacting to things that weren’t there, such as the Fortress of Solitude, felt silly to her at first, but the quality of Dwayne McDuffie’s script soon engaged her. She is excited to put her own spin on Lane but still maintain the character’s defining pluck and assertiveness.

She only recently learned that fellow Mad Men cast member Jon Hamm was a fan favorite for the live action Superman reboot but thinks he would have been a great choice. The role ended up going to The TudorsHenry Cavill.

As for Mad Men, Hendricks admits she’s not exactly sure when she’ll be donning Joan Holloway Harris’ form-fitting dresses again. Although the series has already been officially renewed, contract negotiations between creator Matthew Weiner, studio Lionsgate, and distribution network AMC are still ongoing. Usually the cast returns in the mid-spring for a late summer debut but that could be delayed this season.
