Die Hard 5 Gets a Director

The fifth installment in the Die Hard series has a director, according to THR, and it’s a gamble so big that John McClaine himself would be impressed. The guy at the action film’s helm is Noam Murro, a commercials director who has been nominated five times for the DGA’s director of the year award, and took one of those nominations all the way to the win. However, his only feature directing credit is for the 2007 Miramax film, Smart People.

While the director is a relative noob to the world of features, the scripting duties are being handled by Skip Woods, someone who knows his way around a good action flick, with films like The A-Team and X-Men Origins: Wolverine being listed on his resume.

After a temporary stall, the Die Hard franchise was brought back with a bang in 2007 with Live Free or Die Hard and Fox is hoping to recreate that success in this fifth outing by once again bringing in Bruce Willis as the cop who has the tendency to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. While there’s no word yet on what to expect from the script, there are already some rumors floating around that the villain might be the sister of Hans Gruber, the fantastically evil bad guy played by Alan Rickman in the first Die Hard film.
