Famke Janssen Joins Gemma Arterton in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hollywood is turning into a fairy tale kind of place with three (count ‘em, three) different versions of Snow White heading our way, with one possibly featuring a Twilight star and another starring a Pretty Woman. Paramount is hopping onto the fairy tale bandwagon, but thankfully they’re marching to beat of their own drum and working on Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

IndieFilm has recently revealed that Famke Janssen, who starred in the first three X-Men films, has been cast in the upcoming movie as the leader of the witches. The Tommy Wirkola film also stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as Hansel and Gretel, the brother and sister duo who grew up to become witch-killers after their childhood experience.

Production is expected to begin March 7th and timing will be of the essence because there’s a very narrow production window between Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and The Avengers that allows Renner to participate in this project.

A release date for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters hasn’t been set yet.
