Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie – Prometheus Bound?
Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has a fuller crew these days, according to Collider. Idris Elba (The Wire), Sean Harris (Red Riding Trilogy) and Kate Dickie are all onboard the sci-flick, but is Prometheus really the project they’re hooked up with? More on that in a little bit.
The trio will be joining the previously cast Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, and Charlize Theron in the film that was once thought to be an Alien prequel. The desire for secrecy is so strong that the cast had to sign secrecy clauses and they had to go to Scott’s production office in order to read the script. While the roles of Rapace, Fassbender, and Theron are known, there isn’t any info concerning the parts the newcomers will play.
The lockdown on information has many wondering if Prometheus really is still a prequel to Alien, even if the connection is a thin one. Scott has said in the past that “keen fans will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA” and there’s an opinion on Bleeding Cool that suggests the DNA reference is a literal one. Alien fans might recall that one xenomorph sort of resembled a dog; the theory is that the aliens mutated once they had some human DNA to work with. If their speculation is correct, then it’s possible that Prometheus really is a prequel, but with a different type of alien species that hasn’t been seen before. Keep in mind that this all guesswork so there isn’t anything official from the studio regarding this idea.
As a matter of fact, the studio is being so tight-lipped about the storyline that when BC asked if the film really is going to be called Prometheus, they were told, “Maybe not. Though they are calling it that for a reason.”
So, in a nutshell; Elba, Harris, and Dickie will all be in a film that may or may not be an Alien prequel and it may or may not be titled Prometheus. How’s that for clarity?
