Ingrid Bolsø Berdal in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Paramount Studios has found another one of its evil witches for its retelling of the Grimm fairy tale classic Hansel and Gretel. Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Fritt Vilt aka Cold Prey) joins Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans), and Famke Janssen (X-Men) in the cast.
The film, produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), will be a comedy-action-horror look at brother and sister Hansel (Renner) and Gretel’s (Arterton) lives fifteen years after escaping from the witch who tried to bake and eat them as children. The siblings grow up to become bounty hunters and devote their lives to hunting down witches. Janssen will be playing the leader of a coven of witches.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D is expected to be released under an R rating on March 2, 2012.
Is it strange that I think this movie sounds like it has the potential to be completely awful and completely awesome at the same time? I can’t decide if I would legitimately enjoy it or enjoy in the way that requires copious amounts of alcohol, like Burlesque.
