Jimmi Simpson has been selected to help the President of the United States, according to Variety. He’ll be joining Ben Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, and Mary Elisabeth Winstead in the movie adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Simpson will play Josh Speed, Lincoln’s personal assistant and close friend.

The film will be directed by Timur Bekmatebov using a screenplay written by Grahame-Smith. Tim Burton and Jim Lemley will be producing.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter tells the story of Honest Abe who vows to destroy vampires after he learns one was responsible for the death of his mother. Even after entering the White House, he continues with his mission and the mash-up story puts a vampire spin on everything, including the fight to end slavery and the Civil War.

The film, which will be shot in 3D, is expected to start production in March with a release date set for June 22, 2012. Until then, you’ll be able to catch Simpson on the upcoming A&E series, Breakout Kings.
