Mary Elizabeth Winstead Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?
The recent news circulating around Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was that Robin McLeavy had snagged the role of Honest Abe’s wife, Mary Todd. Heat Vision is now bringing word that the role of the First Lady has actually gone to someone else.
The official news (for right now, anyway) is that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) will be the woman that Abe comes home to after a hard night of vampire slaying. There’s no word yet on whether Mrs. Lincoln will be slinging any wooden stakes but you can bet we’ll let you know something as soon as we find out. In the meantime, Winstead by heading towards a definite tough-woman role if she snags the part of Nick Fury’s assistant in The Avengers.
Winstead will be joining Benjamin Walker (Honest Abe himself), Anthony Mackie, and Dominic Cooper in the film based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s best-selling novel of the same name. Mackie will play Abe’s best friend and fellow vampire hunter, Will, while Cooper portrays Henry Sturges, a vamp who has no problem with helping Abe and his gang track down and destroy other blood-suckers.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is expected to arrive in theaters in 2012.
