V’s Morena Baccarin to The Mentalist

Morena Baccarin is leaving the mother-ship on V for a little while to make a guest appearance on CBS’s The Mentalist, according to EW.com.

Baccarin, who was winning hearts on Firefly long before she started ripping them out on ABC’s sci-fi adventure, has been cast as Erica Flynn, a woman described as an “attractive and sexy woman who seems as warm-hearted, sincere, and intelligent as she is lovely.’ She runs a match-making service, and just might have a few dark secrets that Patrick Jane’s Simon Baker may or may not catch onto. Whether he remains in the dark or not, it’s safe to assume that some sparks will fly when the two get together. The episode is expected to air in early April.

In addition to playing mind-games with Simon, Baccarin may also be showing up in The Avengers as Nick Fury’s sidekick. There’s still no word yet on who the lucky person might be for that role, but Baccarin is on a short list of names that includes Jessica Lucas, Cobie Smulders, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who might might be out of the running since she recently became Abe Lincoln’s wife.
