Never Say Never: Jon Chu Closing in on G.I. Joe Sequel

G.I. Joe 2 will be coming to a theater near you. I can’t say when as of yet, but following the news that your storm shadow actor from the original live action film will be returning for the sequel, comes word from THR that the action flick now has a director. Jon Chu’s current box office offering is Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never. Hey, we warned you the deal was pending, right here on BSC.

Paramount says many of the major characters could be recast. How do you feel about that? I’ve got to say I don’t mind. “While Channing Tatum is expected to return as Duke, it is unclear if Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose dance card has filled out considerably since breaking out in Inception, will return as one of the villains. Insiders say Sienna Miller is also unlikely to return, with her Baroness role being recast or perhaps divided into a couple of new characters.”

Jon Chu was likely made a candidate for director thanks to grossing over $53 million with Bieber’s biopic. The Chinese-American director and screenwriter also has the following films on his resume: Silent Beats (2001), When the Kids Are Away (2002), Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), Step-Up 3-D (2010). If the Joes start dancing in the sequel, you’ll know why!
