Ricky Gervais Wants Will Arnett in the Office

Steve Carell’s Michael Scott hasn’t walked out of The Office yet and it looks like Ricky Gervais, the creator and star of the original UK version of The Office (and mortal enemy to every celeb who attended the Golden Globes) is already looking for his replacement… maybe.

Gervais recently posted on his blog, amidst a whole lot of Ricky ranting and raving, this fateful line: “Had a little meeting with NBC about various things and recommended Will Arnett for a regular in The Office. Thoughts? I think he’s amazing.”

This might seem like an innocent little line if Gervais were just some schmoe off the street but in addition to his UK Office duties (and the whole Golden Globes enemy thing), he’s also an executive producer of the US version of the show… and Steve Carell is leaving in April. Can you think of any other regular spot that’s open?

Fortunately for Ricky, Arnett seems to have a little free time on his hands since his comedy on FOX, Running Wilde, got the ax because – well, it sort of sucked.

Maybe they’ll bring in Will Farrell for Carell’s position, he’ll be an even bigger dunce than Scott, and they’ll bring in Arnett to save the day. Should I see about getting in touch with Ricky and running that by him? Hmmm… on second thought, maybe not.
