Ryan Gosling Starring in Logan’s Run?
Ryan Gosling has had a good run in indie films like Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, and a standout performance in the recent Blue Valentine, but he’s had success in the mainstream too, with films like The Notebook. Now, Deadline is reporting that Gosling might be venturing into mainstream waters one more time to team up again with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn.
Warner Brothers is working out a deal with Gosling to star in the remake of the mid 70’s sci-fi drama, Logan’s Run. While the star has turned down opportunities in the past for big-name roles, including a Jack Ryan reboot, Gosling is eager to work with Refn again so that could be what seals the deal.
This isn’t the first time Logan’s Run has been considered for revival, but the project never made it off the shelf. The original William F. Nolan novel of the same name involved a ‘Sandman’ named Logan 5 who is forced to go on the run when he reaches the age of 21, which is a mandatory death sentence in the 23rd Century. In the movie version, the age was changed to 30 to accommodate the age of the original star, Michael York. Since Gosling recently turned 30, that change will most likely stay the same for the reboot.
Production on Logan’s Run is expected to start in the fall. In the meantime, he’ll be showing up in George Clooney’s The Ides of March, which is expected to have a 2012 release.
