Sam Hennings is Supernatural Colt

Supernatural is going back in time to the Old West, providing demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean with the opportunity to finally meet a man that hasn’t been too far from anyone’s minds since Supernatural started. According to TVLine, Sam Hennings (Memphis Beat) has been cast as Samuel Colt, the man that made the gun that can kill almost anything.

Executive producer Sera Gamble says, “He’s an iconic character for the show, and has been since season one. We’ll be meeting him later in his life, after many years of fighting demons and tinkering with magical weapons and Devil’s Gates and such. Time hasn’t been too kind to the guy — which is pretty par for the course, for a hunter.”

The episode featuring the historic encounter is supposed to air later this season, and fans are excited and wondering what to expect. Personally, I think it’s a great way to get more ammo. 13 bullets were originally designed for the gun, and at least half of those are gone (I say ‘at least’ because I lost count somewhere along the way).

Whether the guys’ encounter with Colt allows them reload or not, it should still be a great episode, and Samuel Colt isn’t the only kick-butt character making an appearance on the hit WB show because Samantha Ferris is coming back for more action.

You don’t really pay attention, do you? The original 13 bullets were used. The 13th killed Azazel at the end of Season Two. During Season Three, Ruby and Bobby make a SECOND Colt, because they couldn’t make new bullets for the original (whether or not the second one is as powerful as the first isn’t stated, perhaps the original could kill Lucifer). The number of bullets made for the second one isn’t stated, and is probably irrelevant. They could just make more. Well, they could if they still had that gun. Which they probably don’t. Dean dropped it when they used it on Lucifer, and we never see him pick it up before being taken to Bobby’s house. If they had it, they would have used it on the dragons, instead of destroying that poor lady’s sword.

Yep, I really did lose count on the bullets, and thought the gun had been modified to fire regular bullets so the special ones could be saved for what they considered important issues.

I was unaware of a second gun being made for them to use; I thought Rudy simply modified the original. It seems like I do remember a copy being made at some point to use in a trade (or something) but it was not intended as a replacement gun.
