Sony Nabs Zombies vs. Robots for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes

You only have to check out the TV and theaters to see where the interest is right now. The Transformers franchise is still going strong and AMC’s Walking Dead has made zombies cool (with the CW following in their footsteps), and of course there’s the perfect blend of the two – the IDW comic Zombies Vs. Robots.

Deadline brings words that JT Perry has used the comic created by Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall as a building block for a spec script called Inherit the Earth that will be a co-production by Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes, Circle of Confusion and IDW. Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs will produce the film and Ted Adams will be the executive producer.

Inherit the Earth, like the comic its based on, tells the story of a young girl who is the last survivor of a zombie plague. Her robot caretakers act as guardians, defending her from the zombies, who have evolved and become intelligent… although they’re still hungry, and determined to erase the last trace of humanity from the planet.

Considering Bay’s experience and success with robots at the box office, Inherit the Earth could transform into an exciting adventure.
