The Chicago Code – Pilot Review

I review the new TV shows, movies, and recap the episodes you missed. A new cop show premiered on Fox called The Chicago Code. Teresa the first female superintendent has set up a secret task force to bring down corrupt city officials. On her team is old partner and quirky cop Jarek and rookie officer Caleb. Pilots are supposed to grab your attention and make you want to tune in for the next episode. This goes double for cop shows. With so many on a cop series has to quickly establish its self either with a new twist, witty banter, or interesting characters. Chicago Code just comes off as run of the mill. Next time I will be reviewing the pilot for Traffic Light.

I enjoyed the pilot of Chicago Code, although I thought the dialog was overly fast, with the result that I often had to replay some scenes in order to hear exactly what was being said. You really have to pay attention to every single word.

Should I blame it on the editing, which seems to run at breakneck speed these days–which is fine if you want to jam in as much as possible between the commercials.

As for the plot: I realize this episode concerns a sting operation, but since when does a police department report its ongoing investigations to a city alderman? I don’t remember ever seeing this in any previous police series–or is it just the way that things are done in Chicago? If so, it’s no wonder the city has a long history of corruption.

Everyone should know by now that the police should keep politics at arms length. There is a chain-of-command from which law-enforcement must not stray, otherwise all sorts of interference and subterfuge could occur.

Did Kojak, Sipowitz, Crockett, or Tubbs ever keep alderman or city councillors informed of what they were doing? Not a chance!

Police should report to the politicians as they are “supposed” to represent us. If we keep the police work at arms length from the politicians there is no regulation and then instead of the Alderman being the big boss man someone in the police department will become the big boss man. This show has a lot of potential because it can play at this fact ~ Corruption is unavoidable. So Norman Bates your quote no wonder there is so much corruption in Chicago should be more like no wonder there is so much corruption on this planet it is unavoidable and there are very few good people in this world that can fight it. This show may show us just that how bad will a good person go to stop corruption . There is a lot of different avenues this show could go i am very interested.

I agree with Bates. This show stunk! Teresa the so called Superintendent was a light weight. When she wears the cop hat its three sizes too big.

The dialog is a lot like the West Wing rapid fire dialog that normal people don’t do

The high speed chase was absolutely stupid!

This Wynecki character or the writers are also stupid. Please, Wynecki brother’s name is on a police memorial and Wynecki does not know the location??

I could go on-n-on but what a waste.

By the way, you need a weightier woman to play the Superintentdent … someone like Diane Weiss or the Arbys Beef lady … ‘Wheres the beef ad”

The only good thing is it was filmed in the great city of Chicago and the vistas were great
