The Dark Knight Rises – Tom Hardy Briefly on Bane

Chances are probably pretty good that as soon as you heard Tom Hardy would be showing up as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, you had some fairly nasty flashbacks to Joel Schumacher’s joke of a movie, Batman and Robin. I know I broke out into a cold sweat, wondering for about the 100th time how such a cool comic book character could be made so laughably lame on the big screen.

In a recent interview with Alan Carr (that Collider and Batman-News were cool enough to put up), Hardy helps ease the tension of Bat-fans all over the world.

“Chris Nolan, again, will revisit that territory entirely so I wouldn’t go by that [Schumacher's Batman and Robin]. Plus, that’s a lot of weight to put on and I’ve got to start shooting in May. So I’ve got to get back up to that size again [presumably "again" referring to his bulked turn in Bronson] and I’ve got to get up to about 13-and-a-half or 14 stone [approx. 200 lbs.]. I’m 12-and-a-bit now [approx. 170 lbs.], so I’ve got three months to do that.”

Hardy will be arriving on the big screen as a hopefully much cooler Bane on July 20, 2012 with Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, and possibly Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Dark Knight Rises.
