Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Daytona 500 TV Teaser

Is there any better venue than the Daytona 500 to introduce a clip about cars that kick butt? We got our first look at the newest teaser for Transformers: Dark of the Moon yesterday, but some people might think it looks a little too similar to the first trailer shown during the Super Bowl. At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference, and there admittedly isn’t a whole lot of new footage, but the new stuff is cool.

This clip gives us our first look at the new characters known as ‘The Wreckers,’- three cars that go by the names Roadbuster, Top Spin, and Leadfoot who happen to look a lot like the cars of Juan Pablo Montoya, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Jimmie Johnson. We also get to see Bumblebee whip out some heavy artillery while in automobile mode, looking like he’s getting ready to put a serious hurt on somebody, which is a decidedly different look than the humorous peek we got for the Chevy ad.

Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think. Is the extra footage worth it or would you be happier if they just stopped with the TV spots and actually wheeled out an actual movie trailer already?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will hit 3D/2D/IMAX theaters July 1, 2011.
