Alison Brie Joins Emily Blunt in Five-Year Engagement
Alison Brie, who has shown talent with comedy in NBC’s Community and drama in AMC’s Mad Men, is taking her skills to Nicholas Stoller’s Five-Year Engagement, according to the latest news from Variety.
The film revolves around the incredibly lengthy engagement of a couple and the joy and challenges that come with it. Jason Segel and Emily Blunt play the procrastinating couple, with Brie coming on-board as Blunt’s younger sister. The film was written by Segel and Stoller, and will be produced by Judd Apatow.
The writers have apparently wanted to work with Blunt for awhile, so much, in fact, that they’ve decided her British accent doesn’t have to go away for the film. While that’s great news for Blunt, it means a little extra work for non-British Brie who will now have to cultivate an accent that matches her on-screen sister. For Brie, though, it’s all just part of the job, “I’ve worked on accents when I was studying at Cal Arts and in Scotland and enjoy that kind of transformation.”
Stoller is currently working on pre-production in Michigan, with the main production expected to begin in April, but you can catch Alison on the big screen way before all that when Scream 4 hits theaters on April 15th, with Blunt (and her accent) showing up tomorrow in The Adjustment Bureau.
