Batman 3: Dark Knight Rises Gets a Holiday Killer?
Director Christopher Nolan is a master of keeping secrets, but even a master has to come clean sooner or later in Hollywood. Variety has recently reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s role in The Dark Knight Rises is that of Alberto Falcone, son of Mafia boss Carmine Falcone (played by Ton Wilkinson in Batman Begins).
In the Batman comics, Alberto is shut out of the Mafia lifestyle by his father but he’s determined to make a name for himself and prove to his father that he’s more than up to the challenge of being a member of ‘the family.’ He does this by taking on the identity of the Holiday Killer and killing some major players that work for his dad.
In my opinion, Alberto, who only appeared in two story arcs, is one of those characters that was extremely under-utilized in the Batman storyline, and I think Gordon-Levitt is the perfect choice to bring this guy to life. In addition to squaring off against the Dark Knight, he’ll also be showing up in the time-travel movie, Looper.
UPDATE:
The latest info from Entertainment Weekly reveals that a source “close to the situation” has said that Gordon-Levitt is attached to The Dark Knight Rises, but not as Alberto Falcone. Of course, this source didn’t indicate whom the actor would be playing.
Maybe Nolan is still the master of secrets after all. Did Variety get it wrong or is this unnamed source trying to create confusion with a little mis-information?
