Blake Lively and Teresa Palmer Join Olivia Wilde Contending For Savages?

Oliver Stone’s Savages, based on Don Winslow’s novel by the same name, now has a solid distribution path since Universal Pictures landed domestic distribution rights, but casting is still a bit murky for the film, although Variety brings word that a few names in particular are being tossed around.

Jennifer Lawrence was a strong contender for the female lead but the fighting for the role might reach new levels since Lawrence recently signed on with The Hunger Games. In addition to Olivia Wilde being up for the role, both Blake Lively and Teresa Palmer have also read for the part.

The coveted role the girls are fighting for is that of Ophelia, a “free-spirited friend” of two Laguna Beach pot dealers that winds up getting kidnapped by a Baja drug cartel that wants her friends to use them to sell their product instead of going the independent route. Another female character that remains uncast at this time is the role of Elena, the leader of the Baja cartel.

The male leads, Ben and Chon, are also currently in limbo, although Aaron Johnson, Benicio del Toro, and Taylor Kitsch have all been offered parts in the film. Negotiations are still on-going at this time.

The movie sounds like it could pack a serious dramatic punch so producers are undoubtedly making sure they get the right people for the film.
