CSI – Marg Helgenberger Back Next Season

There was some drama for CSI fans off the screen. Marg Helgenberger’s contract expires at the end of this season! Her character, CSI Catherine Willows, of course, took over to lead the team when Grissom left.
Well, don’t worry your pretty little heads over it, because EW is reporting “the actress is expected to return to the show in some capacity next fall.”
It isn’t the best possible news for Las Vegas crime fans, however. It does not appear her duration on the show will be full time. Helgenberger told People that “we’re talking maybe [only] doing a few episodes” so the 52-year-old actress can return to the theater. “The older you get, the more comfortable you become with who you are and who you are continuing to become,” she said. “I’m looking forward to the next chapter.” EW also said “One insider says its unclear how many episodes Helgenberger will ultimately do because her new deal has yet to be finalized. So stay tuned.”
Here’s a fun fact: “Helgenberger has been on the show since its 2000 premiere and the third original cast member to consider giving up series regular status.”
Who do you think will take the lead if she does reduce to part time status? Could it be Sarah Sidel? Actually, I believe Nick Stokes is Assistant Supervisor. Or perhaps its time for some more fresh meat?
