Daredevil Helmed by Twilight Eclipse Director, David Slade?
Do comics and Twilight mix? We’ll have a chance to find out because Variety brings word that Twilight: Eclipse director David Slade has been chosen to bring Daredevil back to the big screen for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
Daredevil isn’t the biggest superhero in the Marvel stable and the $103 million in domestic earnings for the 2003 movie with Ben Affleck wasn’t exactly head-turning, but the film did open the door for a decent Elektra spin-off with Jennifer Garner and the studio is probably expecting Thor, Captain America, X-Men:First Class, and The Avengers to get movie audiences into high-gear superhero mode.
A writer hasn’t been selected yet, but whoever gets hired for the script will work closely with Slade to create what sources call a continuation of the Daredevil saga instead of an actual reboot. Personally, I think if any film needs to dumped and started over from scratch, then Daredevil is definitely it… preferably without Ben Affleck in the lead role.
Bring back Garner as Elektra, definitely keep Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin, and change the man behind the mask for someone who might be just a little more believable. It’s okay to keep Colin Farrel as Bullseye but give him a more serious look because he just looked stupid the first time around.
What do you think about a Daredevil reboot/sequel/continuation/whatever they want to call it?
