Edgar Wright Directing Walking Dead Season 2?
Director Edgar Wright has an impressive resume that shows talent in various fields. He’s done television (Spaced), movies (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), and even messed around with zombies on the big screen (Shaun of the Dead), but Collider points out that he had a slightly odd reaction with the idea of directing an episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead.
“Frank asked me to do a Walking Dead, actually. But I feel that there’s some subject matter that, like, even though it’d be great– and I love that show: I actually watched four of the six episodes uninterrupted in one run; it was like zombie Pringles– I think that with something like that, with some TV shows, you wanna be in on the ground floor,” Wright said during an interview, “Well, I really enjoyed the first season, and I wouldn’t wanna be the guy that comes in and fucks it up.”
I think it’s a sign of true praise for a show when a talented director doesn’t jump at an opportunity like this from fear of ruining something good, but Wright didn’t actually say that his answer was no, so there’s still a chance that he could helm an episode or two somewhere down the road.
What do you think? Could Wright really be worried about screwing up The Walking Dead’s mojo or did he just do a good job of concealing his possible involvement with the season’s second season?
