Joss Whedon’s Avengers “Best Marvel Movie Script”?

When it comes to the most anticipated comic book movie in history, Marvel Studios’ The Avengers, all we really want for St. Patty’s Day is an insider who is willing to talk. If that’s what you’ve been waiting for, today, that wait is over.

His name is James Gunn. He is the writer and director of the upcoming screwball indie comedy, Super, starring Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page as The Crimson Bolt and his side-kick, Bolty. His connection to The Avengers? Well, the Collider says Gunn talked to Wired about the details he has learned regarding Joss Whedon’s film script.

Here’s the juicy part, True Believers. These are Gunn’s words:

“Everybody I know who’s read it says it’s by far the best script for a Marvel movie ever. I’m very, very excited about it. Nobody loves superheroes more than Joss. He’s really got his heart in the right place.”

Was there ever any doubt? Joss Whedon, aside from being a pop genius, also worked on Astonishing X-Men comics, and they were quite inspired and totally refreshing. Of course, you must keep in mind, when Gunn says best Marvel movie ever, he is likely saying Avengers will be better than Iron Man, and possibly, better than Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, the latter two films both due out this year. Now that’s exciting. We can all revel in The Avengers on the big screen come May 4th, 2012.
