Joss Whedon Avengers Movie Villains Revealed?

If you’re one of those, like I am, who’s dying for The Avengers to hurry up and hit the big screen, then I’ve got some news that will absolutely make your weekend. No! The super-movie isn’t hitting the big screen any sooner, but we do have some details to share, courtesy of the gang over at Ain’t It Cool News and some reliable sources at Latino Review. Keep in mind that the below details are loaded with spoilers so don’t go any further if you want to be totally surprised when the movie comes out.

Since The Avengers is connected to both Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, Marvel is preparing a special treat in the form of a teaser trailer that will be seen before one or both of those films. While there isn’t a whole lot of info on what the tease will show, the buzz is that the main Avengers villain will be revealed to be Loki.

Even with Asgardian powers though, Loki still isn’t bad enough to need a whole army of super-heroes to take him down, but what if Loki got his hands on the cosmic cube that will be introduced in Captain America? With the cube in his hands, Loki could do just about anything, including summon a whole army of Skrull to wreak havok on Earth.

The rumor about the Skrull being the baddies started floating around months ago, but the powers-that-be promptly shot that info down, saying it was nothing more than bad guesswork. Now it’s looking like that was just an attempt at damage control to keep the secret an actual secret for a little while longer.

Personally, I’m not shocked with this info. The Avengers is going to be one of the most ambitious movies of all time and some heavy-hitting bad guys are a necessity if this is going to work. The team-up of Loki and the Skrull is a perfect combination to go up against the combined powers of Cap, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk.
