Kristen Kreuk Moves to 17th Precinct

There’s a chance Stockard Channing and Matt Long are breathing a little easier now since TVLine has brought word that someone new is joining NBC’s new pilot, 17th Precinct, and – surprise, surprise – she hasn’t been on Battlestar Galactica. It had to start feeling a little weird for the non-BSG crowd.

Former Smallville native Kristin Kreuk will be joining Jamie Bamber, James Callis, and Tricia Helfer in the police drama with a supernatural twist. The folks at the 17th Precinct have to deal with a town where magic and the supernatural rule over science, which shouldn’t be too different from having to deal with Kryptonite-powered freaks every week. Kreuk has been cast as Bamber’s wife, Susan Longstreet, in the pilot and there’s a chance the character could be recurring if the series is picked up.

Bamber portrays a homicide detective at the precinct, Callis is a homicide detective, and it sounds like Helfer might get to play another sexy woman of mystery as Morgana the necromancer, who functions as the police department’s coroner.

With Smallville getting ready to wrap up and a lot of familiar faces like Lex Luthor and possibly Chloe showing up for the send-off, many are wondering if Lana Lang will be making one final appearance. Kreuk’s IMDB page has her listed as rumored for the ‘Prophecy’ episode but there’s been no word on whether there’s any substance to it or not.
