Law & Order LA to Relaunch in April

I believe in the rule of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but Law & Order: Los Angeles was broke in a big way. I’m a huge fan of the original Law & Order, along with all its spin-offs, but LA just wasn’t doing it for me. Thankfully, TVLine has announced that the show has gone through a major overhaul so we’ll be seeing something completely different when the show re-launches.

Well, it won’t actually be completely different. Alfred Molina’s Ricardo Morales is back but he’s stepped down from the DA job to become a detective. He’ll be partnering up with TJ Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll) since Skeet Ulrich has thankfully departed the show. Terrence Howard will also be returning as DDA Jonah Dekker. Law & Order veteran Alana De La Garza is bringing ADA Connie Rubirosa on board to help cover the absence of Regina Hall and Megan Boone, who were shown the door along with Ulrich. Personally, I don’t think they’ll be missed too much.

It’s pretty obvious that Dick Wolf and his team have made some pretty drastic changes in an effort to save what was once the weak link in the Law & Order franchise, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the changes were worthwhile. From what I’ve seen here, I think the show might actually become the contender it should have been right from the start.

The new Law & Order: Los Angeles premieres with a two-hour episode on Monday, April 11th at 9/8c. After that, it moves to its regular 10/9c timeslot.

What do you think about the Los Angeles reboot? Willing to give the show a second chance or did you prefer the first incarnation of the series?
