Megan Fox, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine – Who’s Going to Liman’s Moon?
In addition to Total Recall and Akira picking up speed in the casting department, Doug Liman’s untitled Moon project is now starting to get serious with filling in the blanks, according to the latest from THR.
I’ve always thought the movie had a great plot – a group of former space employees under the leadership of an Eastern European woman travel around the world to steal space equipment and kidnap an ex-NASA employee so they can travel to the moon and get an energy source.
While the plot might sound original, the movie has had plenty of problems with getting off the ground. It was originally picked up by DreamWorks in 2007, but soon moved to Paramount. Jake Gyllenhaal was attached to the film for a while but actors make money by actually acting and not just sitting around waiting for a film to be made, so he eventually hit the road.
Liman is hoping to start shooting in late summer so he’s determined to get his lead roles filled in a short period of time. So far, he’s met with Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde for the female roles, and Andrew Garfield, Emile Hirsch and Chris Pine have been to see the director for the male characters. Eva Mendes is also on the short list for two different roles in Total Recall so it could be interesting to see which way she goes.
