Robert Pattinson – Man With No Fear After Breaking Dawn?

Is R-Pats destined to play a super hero?
Marvel’s Daredevil is a comic book following Matt Murdock, a Hell’s Kitchen, NY lawyer, rendered blind after an unusual accident from his childhood. The son of a boxer, and the product of that tough neighborhood, Matt grew up a fighter. Despite his handicap, his accident also left him with a superhuman ability. He has a sonar type sense, allowing sounds and vibrations to give him a kind of sight. The hero, Daredevil, sporting a dark red costume, complete with little horns, was then born.
Daredevil made it to the big screen in 2003 with Ben Affleck under the mask and his now wife, Jennifer Garner (television’s ALIAS), as Elektra. Many people remember the film badly, but at the time I thought the decision to cast Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin, a villain usually depicted as a Caucasian in the comics, was totally inspired. Let’s not forget Colin Ferrell was at the height of his popularity, too, and rounded out the cast to play a more modern version of the baddie, Bullseye. The soundtrack of the film also included two madly popular tracks by Evanescence.
Anyway you slice it, Daredevil wasn’t as bad as the Elektra-focused sequel, nor Eric Bana’s Hulk flick, which also debuted in ’03. And in the spirit of Hulk, which was re-imagined pretty successfully five years later as The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton in the lead role, Daredevil, known as the man with no fear, is also getting a face-lift. Heck, Norton didn’t even last very long. He’s been replaced by Mark Ruffalo for The Avengers. Wolverine, another Marvel mutant, is also starting fresh with The Wolverine. Of course, Spider-Man is rebooting as well.
So, here’s the meat and potatoes of this story, Pattinson fans. MTV is reporting Moviehole’s new and very interesting rumor. “With David Slade given the job [to direct the new Daredevil], there’s ‘some kind of talk’ about Robert Pattinson – who, with the Twilight series winding up, is going to be looking for a new well-paying gig – playing the part of Matt Murdock,” reports the site.
Slade, you’ll remember, directed Twilight Saga: Eclipse (and 30 Days of night and Hard Candy).
So, the question is, can you picture Pattinson wearing the dark red suit? He might need to take some beefing up notes from Taylor Lautner, no?
