Sarah Gadon is Robert Pattinson’s Wife in Cosmopolis, Samantha Morton Added

Robert Pattinson finally has a wife, or at least his Cosmopolis character does, according to THR. Sarah Gadon (Happy Town, Murdoch Mysteries) has signed on to play the estranged wife of Pattinson’s Eric Packer. The role originally belonged to Marion Cotillard, who stepped down due to pregnancy. Keira Knightley was briefly rumored to be taking the role of Mrs. Packer but she was never actually connected to the film.

In addition to Gadon, Oscar nominee Samantha Morton has also joined the cast, although her role remains unknown at this time. Morton’s resume includes mostly indie projects, although she will be showing up in the future as Sola in John Carter of Mars, which is scheduled for a 2012 release.

David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, based on a book by the same name, hasn’t had the greatest casting luck. Pattinson stepped into the shoes of the main character when Colin Farrell decided to go with Total Recall instead, making Paul Giamatti the only main character from the original cast who remains unchanged.

The film is being produced by Paulo Branco through Paris-based Alfama Films Production and Martin Katz of Toronto-based Prospero Pictures, and will be shot in west Toronto at Cinespace’s Kipling studio facility.
