Scott Porter Joins Rachel Bilson in Hart Of Dixie

What has Rachel Bilson been up to these days? You’ll remember the breezy waif from The O.C. in her role as Summer. Well, the actress filmed two episodes of the comedy How I Met Your Mother in 2010 and her little known romantic film, Waiting for Forever, hit theaters last month. Now the brunette is gearing up for a return to television.

The pilot, in development for the CW network, is called Hart of Dixie. TV Line likens it to Everwood. In it, Bilson plays “Zoe, a young New York City doctor who inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic group of characters.” That DOES sound like Everwood, a show I definitely miss. The theme song is still on my iPod for days when I’m feeling sentimental.

The great news is the actor who portrays Kalinda’s rival investigator on The Good Wife, the masterful Scott Porter, is also attached to the pilot in a leading role. While Zoe is the main character, Porter has been cast as “a longtime resident of the sleepy town who develops an intense connection with Bilson’s MD. Too bad he’s engaged to the daughter of Zoe’s chief rival at the medical practice.” I can’t help but report the last adorable connection to Everwood that TV Line made when they wrote, “He’s the Nina to Bilson’s Andy!” And fans will recall Nina and Andy didn’t end up together until the final season of that CW drama.

Will you be looking forward to Hart of Dixie? Oh! I forgot the sad news! Scott Porter’s stint on The Good Wife is ending later this month!
